Benjamin "Ben" L. Specht, 74, of Windsor, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Poudre Valley Hospital. He was born May 30, 1931, in Fort Collins to John and Mary (Schneider) Specht.
On Oct. 1, 1955, he married Frances Ehrlich in Fort Collins. Mr. Specht graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1949; he lived in Fort Collins until moving to Windsor in 1971. Mr. Specht served in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 before his honorable discharge.
Mr. Specht worked for Soderberg Masonry for 35 years in Fort Collins; he also worked for Haugen Brick Co. prior to Soderberg Masonry. After he retired from Soderberg he also worked for the Windsor School District.
Ben was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, and enjoyed playing fast-pitch ball. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors are his wife, Frances June Specht, of Windsor; two daughters, Lynn Ann Bisnar of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Vickie Sue Dempsey of Fort Collins; three sisters, Irene Winter, Wilma Robbs and Lillian Erbes, all of Windsor; one brother, Donald Specht of Brighton; parents-in-law, Walter and Rachel Ehrlich; and three grandchildren, Sean Whitaker, Tiffany Dempsey and Joshua Bisnar.
His parents and a sister preceded him n death.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor. Memorial gifts may be made to the Windsor Fire Station for the new fire museum in care of Marks Funeral and Cremation Service, 9293 Eastman Park Drive, Windsor, CO 80550.
