Marvin Lester (Red) Ashby passed away November 25, 2011. He was born November 5, 1929 in Ft. Collins and lived part of his youth in the Montrose area
where his father and mother had been raised and were involved in agriculture for many generations. Red spent his youth working for Livermore anad northern Colorado
ranches until his marriage to Dee-Harvey-Parker of the Cherokee Park area at the Cherokee Park Dude Ranch on July 12, 1951
Red could best be described as a builder of not only family but a builder of roads and homes with his 60 plus years of maintaining the Cherokee Park
and Sheep Creek area roads with Larimer County as well as building/maintaining roads, homes and buildings for many family and businesses in the Livermore
and Red Feather areas.
Red was also a builder of citizenship as he had given his time freely in the leadership of the Livermore Wrangler 4-H Club, the Livermore Community
Hall Board and was a representative to the Poudre R-1 School Board. Red's artistic and building talent came from his parents-- father a builder, mother an artist.
Red and Dee for 20 years owned/operated the "Homestead Store" in Cherokee Paark area. Red served in the Korean War and was a devoted Mason with the
Masonic Temmple, Fort Collins.
He is survived by his three children and families, Mike Ashby, son and wife Mary Gore-Asby of Nunn, CO, Micky Ashby, daughter and Grant Segelke of Merino, CO
and Melanie Ashby-Hersh, daughter and husband George Hersh of Livermore. Also survived by two sisters and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dee Harvey-Ashby.
